I definitely recommend getting friendly with the layers function in any drawing program you decide to use. Once I became comfortable with the tablet and the functions of each of the tools I started to trace pictures of my own paper drawings, which after a while led to me being comfortable enough to sketch straight onto the screen. I started off actually coloring in premade lineart in a free download version of Paint Tool SAI that I found online. They really last if you take care of them. I only got my intuos last year after using a cheaper version that I stole from my dad when I was 12.
Something from amazon in the lower price range is a safe bet to see if you're into it. I also have the Wacom Intuos Pro S, but it's a bit pricy and there are definitely cheaper functioning ones on the market. I've been doing digital art since I was 12 (21 now) and I love it!! I definitely agree with the person who previously said to see about getting your hands on a drawing tablet. Others will probably tell you Krita, which offers both i BELIEVE, but my computer would rather be trashy and not let me use it lol
Learning color theory ofc, and if youre into animation look up the 12 principles of animation (one person on yt made short videos on it, cant recall the user rn).Īlso, if you dont want to purchase art softwares, I personally recommend MedibangPaint Pro for painting and drawing (Making an account there allows you to unlock some other brushes I like) and Firealpaca has an animation/gif thing you can use, its neat. Other youtubers worth a watch are Aaron Blaise (formerly worked at disney), Borodante(digital artist), Howard Wimshurst (animator), as well as just generally looking for resources online. Theres plenty of resources out there for you, but i specifically recommend Proko for anatomy (but not for art from imagination, his kangaroo is cursed).

My Intuous Draw (wacom) has lasted me for 3 years, very good qualityĭecide what you want to draw.”Digital art” is a broad field. it helps you decide whether you REALLY want to do this badly enough that you get a screen tablet later. Ideally, get a relatively cheap pad tablet.
